Decorative Metallic Epoxy

3D metallic epoxy floors for homes, showrooms and retail flagships in Accra — luminescent, seamless resin finishes over an ICRI-CSP-prepared, moisture-tested slab (ASTM F2170/F1869), sealed under a UV-stable topcoat. Epoxy GH — quote-first, cost-transparent, since 1981.

Decorative metallic epoxy is a high-pigment, multi-layer resin system in which metallic powder pigments — pearl, copper, bronze and custom alloy tones — are suspended in a two-part epoxy and manipulated during cure to produce a seamless floor with luminescent depth, veining and lava-flow movement. It is a designed surface, not just a coating. In Ghana’s humidity its success is still decided beneath the resin — by slab moisture testing and substrate preparation. Epoxy GH has installed decorative resin floors across Accra since 1981.

A Floor That Earns Its Place — Over a Slab That Was Tested First

A metallic epoxy floor is specified when the ground plane has to carry the room’s design language: a showroom under spot-lighting, a retail flagship, a corporate reception, a premium residential entrance. The effect is real, but it is only as durable as the slab beneath it. In Ghana’s persistent 81–83% relative humidity, vapour rising through an untested slab builds osmotic and hydrostatic pressure under the resin and lifts it — clouding the metallic finish, then blistering it — within months.

We treat moisture as the primary engineering control even on decorative work. Before a drop of resin is mixed we test in-situ relative humidity to ASTM F2170 and moisture-vapour emission to ASTM F1869, and prepare to ICRI CSP — the concrete surface profile scale, not the steel-only ISO 8501. That discipline is what separates a metallic floor that holds its lustre from one that clouds.

Where Decorative Metallic Epoxy Fits

Showrooms & Retail Flagships

Reflective depth beneath parked vehicles, displayed merchandise or branded fixtures — a floor that reads in photography and in live client walk-throughs.

Corporate Reception & Bank Halls

A seamless, cleanable, specification-grade surface that carries corporate colour language without grout lines or seams.

Premium Residential

Entrance halls, living areas and open-plan kitchens where a continuous, jointless metallic finish replaces tile — moisture-tested first, because domestic slabs on grade lift resin just as readily.

Hospitality Pre-Function & Lobbies

High-footfall public surfaces sealed under a UV-stable topcoat for colour stability and easy maintenance.

The Moisture-Testing Doctrine — Yes, Even for Decorative Floors

TestWhat it measuresWhy it decides the floor
ASTM F2170In-situ relative humidity (probes at 40% slab depth)The dominant pre-install moisture test; the system and primer are chosen to this reading
ASTM F1869Calcium-chloride moisture-vapour emission rateSurface vapour load; flags slabs that need a vapour-suppression primer
ICRI CSPConcrete surface profile after preparationThe mechanical key the resin bonds to — concrete uses ICRI CSP, not the steel-only ISO 8501

How We Install a Metallic Epoxy Floor

  1. Sample board & sign-off — the metallic palette and effect approved on real resin before mobilisation.
  2. Slab moisture & substrate testing — ASTM F2170 in-situ RH + ASTM F1869 MVER before anything else.
  3. Surface preparation — diamond grinding to the specified ICRI CSP; cracks and voids filled.
  4. Metallic build — primer, pigmented base and metallic coat with pigment manipulation to the agreed effect.
  5. UV-stable topcoat & handover — polyurethane/polyaspartic seal, adhesion (ASTM D3359) verified, signed completion.

What Affects the Cost

We discuss every one of these drivers with you openly, and every quote follows a site survey and slab moisture test — no fixed rate is given before the slab is tested.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a metallic epoxy floor cost in Ghana? It is quoted on survey. The drivers are open: the metallic palette and number of coats, the finished area, the slab condition and any moisture remediation, the topcoat grade, and access. We talk you through each driver and never give a fixed rate before the slab is tested — request a site survey.

Can a metallic epoxy floor be installed in a home? Yes — entrance halls, living areas, kitchens and showroom-style spaces are common. The same discipline applies as for commercial floors: the slab is moisture-tested (ASTM F2170/F1869) and prepared to ICRI CSP first, because a domestic slab on grade in Ghana’s humidity will lift a metallic floor just as readily as an industrial one.

Will the metallic finish yellow or fade? Bare epoxy chalks and yellows under UV, which is why we seal every decorative metallic floor under a UV-stable polyurethane or polyaspartic topcoat. That topcoat is what keeps the colour reading the same in year eight as in year one near windows and skylights.

How long does a metallic epoxy floor take to install? Most residential and showroom floors take 3–5 days depending on area, coat count and cure windows — moisture testing, preparation, the metallic build and the topcoat each need their own cure. The exact programme is confirmed on survey.
